The Infectious Disease Translational Research Fellowship at 春风视频 College of Pharmacy-Glendale Campus in Glendale, Arizona is a 24-month post-doctoral program. The program provides training in a variety of infectious disease research areas including both clinical outcomes and laboratory. Specific research includes antimicrobial pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics, dose optimization of multidrug-resistant pathogens and prevention of resistance, as well as antimicrobial dose optimization in the critically ill population, and antimicrobial stewardship. The experiences can be tailored to the candidate鈥檚 individual goals and interests with the goal of developing a competent individual to become an advanced practitioner, clinician, or academician.

  • Teaching opportunities with PGY1 residents and Doctor of Pharmacy students through the Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE), didactic lectures, and workshops in small groups
  • Opportunity to complete CPG Clinical Education Program Teaching Certificate

Research Learning Experiences

  • Scientific research process:
    • Hypothesis generation and development
    • Protocol development
    • Study design and coordination
    • Data collection
    • Data analysis and interpretation
    • Technical and molecular skills development
    • Prepare and submit abstracts, manuscripts, grants, and formal presentations including continue education
       
  • Grantsmanship
    • Fellow participates in the entire process of grant submission
      • Identify appropriate grant funding agencies under guidance of the preceptor
      • Prepare grant applications
      • Develop research protocol and budget
    • Technology software:
      • Fellow will be trained on essential software for research projects under guidance of the preceptors/investigators
      • Graphic program: SigmaPlot v14.0
      • Statistical analysis program: SPSS v24.0, R, REDCap
      • Microsoft Office 2016 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)

Clinical Learning Experiences

  • Fellow gains clinical practice skills through a variety of patient care rotations at HonorHealth John C. Lincoln Medical Center:
    • General Infectious Disease, specifically in the medical intensive care unit
    • Antimicrobial Stewardship
    • Clinical Microbiology
    • Hospital Epidemiology/Infection Control
  • Provide education to interdisciplinary healthcare professionals
  • Precept PGY1 residents and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE) Doctor of Pharmacy students

Academia Learning Experiences

  • Visiting instructor to the College of Pharmacy-Glendale Campus
  • Receive guidance for developing lecture outlines, handouts, audiovisual presentation, and exam writing skills
  • Fellow provides 1-2 lectures and 1 workshop per year for Doctor of Pharmacy students enrolled in Infectious Disease courses
  • Opportunity to complete CPG Clinical Education Program Teaching Certificate

Qualifications of the Fellow

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy
  • Successful completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY-1 pharmacy residency or equivalent experience
  • Eligible to license in Arizona by the first of September
  • Motivated, self-directed with excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrate an interest and desire for a career in Infectious Diseases both clinical and research focus
