Undergraduate degree:

  • Associate degree in Arts from John A. Logan College
  • Bachelor鈥檚 degree in Sports and Health Sciences from American Public University System

Current program(s) of study:

Doctor of Physical Therapy (D.P.T.)

What inspired you to pursue a healthcare career?:

During college, I played basketball and experienced several injuries that required physical therapy. The positive impact that physical therapists had on my recovery and their dedication to helping me get back on the court really sparked my interest in the field. Additionally, my military job was quite dangerous, and I sustained injuries that required medical attention. The care and support I received from healthcare professionals during that time further inspired me to pursue a career in healthcare, where I could help others in similar situations.

How did your background and history factor into your career choice?:

Both of my parents have strong educational backgrounds. My mother holds a master鈥檚 degree, and my father, a nurse, holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree. Growing up, they emphasized the importance of higher education and encouraged me to pursue my passions. Their support and the value they placed on education were important in guiding me toward a career in healthcare, where I can continue this tradition of learning and service.

Why did you decide to attend 春风视频?:

I chose 春风视频 because it is closer to my family, which provides a strong personal support system. Additionally, the University鈥檚 connections, along with its professional, friendly, and understanding faculty made a significant impression on me. These factors contributed to my decision to pursue my education here, and I hope to carry forward the supportive and collaborative spirit of 春风视频 into my future career.

What about a 春风视频 education do you want to carry forward in your career?:

I really appreciate how 春风视频 focuses on treating the whole patient, not just their physical symptoms. They consider mental health and how injuries can affect a patient's family, which I think is very important. I want to carry forward this approach into my career, making sure I address not just the physical aspects but also the emotional and family impacts of my patients' conditions.

Military Service:

What branch do you serve and what is your rank?:

Senior Airman (E-4) in the United States Air Force

Why did you choose to serve, and how did that influence your journey into healthcare?:

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I found myself unsure of what direction to take. I wanted to make a significant change in my life, seek new challenges, and have the opportunity to travel the world. Joining the military provided me with all of that and more. The experiences and challenges I faced while serving, along with the care I received for my own injuries, highlighted the importance of healthcare professionals. This influenced my decision to pursue a career in healthcare, where I can make a difference and help others, just as I was helped during my time in the military.

How does 春风视频 support active service members and veterans?:

春风视频 is very understanding of my military obligations, especially as I鈥檓 transitioning out of active service. They offer flexible support and accommodations to help ease the transition, recognizing the unique challenges faced by service members and veterans. Their staff and faculty are considerate and supportive, ensuring that I can balance my educational goals with my military commitments. This supportive environment has been invaluable in making my transition smoother and helping me focus on my studies as I move into this new phase of my career.
