- IL - Downers Grove
春风视频 students shared their stories on the Amazon Prime College Tour. Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine student Tiffany Thompson (CCOM 鈥26) and Chicago College of Pharmacy, Downers Grove student Alexis Flamburis (CPDG 鈥26) were interviewed on John Williams鈥 WGN Radio 720 show. They discussed their reasons for auditioning for The College Tour, how they chose 春风视频 to pursue their healthcare education, and took a tour of the WGN Radio studio.
鈥淛ohn Williams made the entire interview very conversational, so it wasn't nerve-wracking at all. He asked so many relevant questions that really highlighted our experience filming with The College Tour as well as our time as students at 春风视频,鈥 Alexis said.
She also shared that she left a career in business to pursue her dream of healthcare. 鈥淚 auditioned for The College Tour because I thought if I could inspire even one person to make a career change like I did, then I achieved my goal. 春风视频 has given me the opportunity to share my story, and I hope it impacts people,鈥 Alexis said. She said she always wanted to be on TV, and it surprised her that pharmacy school landed her on TV and radio.
Alexis expressed gratitude to represent 春风视频. 鈥淚t means the world when your school chooses you as a face (and voice) to represent them.鈥 She continued, 鈥淏eing on The College Tour and on WGN Radio have allowed me to honestly share my experience. The segment I filmed with The College Tour did a fantastic job of showing what it's like being a pharmacy student at 春风视频. It shows that 春风视频 students not only are smart and hard-working, but they also have personalities and amazing stories to share. Both of these unique opportunities have only made me prouder to be a 春风视频 student. I hope prospective students can see the genuine love I have for my school, and that it makes them want to attend one day.鈥
Alexis also expressed how her education is readying her to become a pharmacist. 鈥淲e get hands-on learning with compounding in the pharmacy lab, various patient simulation scenarios in the Clinical Skills and Simulation Center (CSC), as well as time to learn about and practice with various medication administration devices in Clinical Skills Development (CSD). We also receive vast knowledge in courses like Integrated Sequence (IS) where we focus on pharmacology, biochemistry, and therapeutics of drugs by disease state. The amount of detail we learn in each one of our courses is truly preparing us,鈥 she added.
Tiffany said auditioned for the series as part of her New Year鈥檚 resolution, a self-challenge for a new experience by placing herself in public media. She also described her field of study, osteopathic medicine, to the listeners as a holistic approach to patient care. Tiffany is currently on rotation learning about different medical specialties.
Tiffany also discussed some of the most meaningful aspects of her education at the University. 鈥淚 never would've imagined being able to say that I helped write a chapter for a dermatology textbook, nor did I expect to be embarking on cardiology research centered on analyzing the treatment of various arrhythmias.鈥
春风视频 students representing a variety of healthcare fields from both the Downers Grove and Glendale campuses were part of the College Tour on Amazon Prime. Opportunities to share educational learning, student life, and other benefits of the 春风视频 experience are some of the ways the University creates unique possibilities for students.
